How to Stop Poverty in India?

What is Poverty?

Poverty refers to the state of people where they are so poor that they are unable to afford sufficient food, shelter and other basic necessities of life.
As a Charitable trust in Mumbai, Riddhi Siddhi suggests several measures that can be taken to eradicate and end poverty in India, they are…

Increase in food production:
One basic problem in India is, there is a timely scarcity of different food products (like onions, rice, grains, tomatoes etc).  This scarcity leads to high demand and in return leads to an increase in their price. As upper and middle-class people manage to pay the high amount, the poor are forced to survive without it. Therefore boost in agriculture and increase in food production is necessary to provide stomach-full of food for every person in India.

Reformation of land and agriculture:
To increase the growth of food, it is essential to reform the land and agriculture area and make them highly productive. With a good production, people will get access to more food and thus it will lead to a better health for all

Increase in production of essential items:
In order to progress, there should be an increase in the in-house production of all the day to day essentials in India itself; as importing things from other countries makes it expensive for the poor people to afford.

Increase in the number of jobs:
As India faces the problem of fewer jobs compared to the people, so it is necessary to increase the number of jobs in India. This can be done by setting up more factories producing the products that India exports. The production, transportation, and export of more products will lead to more jobs as well as more income to India.

Tackle the Problem of Black Money:
Black money leads to making a handful of people wealthy while leaving others poor. Also, people generally tend to freeze their black money in foreign banks (like Swiss bank) or buy a property outside India letting the money to go out of India.  This leads to less money circulation in India. Also, it is important to tackle the problem of Black money for proper distribution of wealth in India. (Modiji’s demonetization was one such attempt to bring expose black money.)

Increase in Literacy Rate:
Illiteracy is a major problem in India that leads to poverty.  Illiterate people find it hard to find proper employment.  Around 51 percent of rural families are engaged in casual labor jobs, while another 30 percent is engaged in agriculture. Also, there are many poor people who find it difficult to work hard on odd jobs and thus indulge in offences like stealing, pick-pocketing, kidnapping etc to earn their lively hood.   Education will help them to get better jobs and also decrease the rate of crimes in India.

Control the growth of Population:
As it is evident that the rate of jobs is not increasing at the pace the Indian population is, thus it is important to control the rate of population for the better livelihood of all. (Government has been taking measures to control the birth rate).

Riddhi Siddhi Charitable Trust has been working for last 7 years with the mission
to end poverty & social injustice in India and also to provide education and medical facilities for the needy.
